Dog Training Collars

Dog Training Collars are an important step in training your dog or puppy. You must teach them early for discipline and rules. If you do not, you will have an unruly dog that will be the boss of your house! This will save a bunch of money in home repairs in the long run. Here are reviews and information of collars and their uses.

When buying the collar the most important thing to check for is will it fit? If you can easily place two fingers under it, then it is a great fit. Never buy a collar that will be too tight and choke the dog. Remember a puppy is still growing and will outgrow its collar just like a dog can gain or lose weight. Even its hair can get in the way and snag on the collar or leash!

Which collar to use for your dog is important. There are four types to consider: electronic, pronged, head, and choke. If you want to do things all natural it is best not to use an electronic collar. You just do it all by hand.

A pronged collar is used for big, strong, and powerful dogs. Maybe you have a dog that was given to you that is unruly. The dog has never been trained. This would be extremely effective in taming and controlling the dog.

Choke collars are mainly used for the public and not for home use. The police and fire dogs for example, including handicapped and the blind, this is the purpose it is used for. The dogs are being taught specific orders and commands to save lives, find drugs, fight the bad guys, and to help a person live a normal life from day to day.

Head collars are designed specifically to make the dog do something. You are totaling controlling the dog’s movements. You are telling the dog where to walk, which direction to turn, for example.

The last dog collar is the electronic collar. There are so many collars to choose from. But, it is also extremely controversial. Some people call them shock collars and say they are cruel and inhumane. These can be used effectively and safely to solve specific behavior problems in a dog especially if they have a mind of their own and absolutely will not listen.

An Ecollar is a very popular collar to use in a positive way. Here is a classic example, the dog loves to chase cars or gets in the trash can. You place the collar on the dog, and the dog goes to digging through the trash can or starts after the car. You blast the dog with a bolt of electricity and shock the dog. This teaches the dog every time he does this, this is what happens. You do not need to be around the dog for this to be taught. The dog will associate trash can to being shocked. You want your dog to love you, so if he or she is very smart, make sure they do not see you pushing a button. They are very fast learners!

As you can see you have to do your homework before deciding which dog training collar would be the most effective. You might start off with one for a puppy and have to move up to a different collar as they get older. Always consider your dog’s breed, size, and the dog’s behavior along with it’s canine attitudes to determine which one to use.

Oh, yes! Dog training collars are essential for training your puppy or adult dog and even mature and elderly dog but please do not overlook other equally important dog doggie products.
